Can a Song without Words Speak to You?

This holiday I am reminded that I am not only thankful for every person in my life, and I am thankful for music which reminds me of all the experiences that have brought me to this day… so I wanted to share this story.

It was my first trip to England and and I was traveling solo. I had the pleasure of staying with a good friend who had been living there about a year. She shared with me the difficulties of relocating and the struggle to feel part of something. I know she felt some comfort in the fact that her rental apartment came furnished with a piano, because she knew how to play.

One day I awoke to the sounds of her playing the most beautiful classical song I’d ever heard. It’s tells a story to me. Have a listen, I’m curious if it speaks to you too…. goosebumps, every time.

Click here to play the song with youtube.

The artist is Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi and the song is called “I Giorni”. The song name translates in English to “The Days”. The album goes by the same name. Einaudi has created dozens of successful albums and soundtracks and he also tours the world performing his beloved works. Check his events calendar if you’d like to see him perform live. You can download the song or the album from Amazon right here:

If you are musically inclined, you might be interested in this piano tutorial video of the song so you can learn it on the piano.

I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I do….
