Pineapples actually have fantastic health benefits. They contain the healing enzyme bromelain which helps break down protein, reduce inflammation and aids digestion. Pineapples are also rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C, two of the many antioxidants with anti-aging properties, plus Vitamin B1 which we need for energy production.
Once known as the fruit of kings, for many years pineapples were available only to the natives of the tropics and wealthy Europeans. Right now it’s pineapple season and you are likely to find them in abundance (and on sale) at your local grocery store. So go for it, try this juice and you will be glad you did! An excellent choice if you are feeling a bit sluggish or looking to slim down.
For this juice you will need pineapple, apples, fennel, ginger root and aloe vera juice. Fennel contains essential oils to help the body get rid of excess fluid and ginger is a natural digestive aid. Also, aloe vera is antibacterial and anti-fungal so it helps to support your immune system and has strong detoxifying properties.
My juice recipes typically make a 16oz serving (equivalent to the size of a Starbucks ‘Grande’). That much juice can sometimes seem like a lot so if you are not sharing and you choose to downsize my recipe a bit, just use half a fennel bulb and only one apple, leave the rest of the ingredients as-is. Find my recipe card below. Enjoy!
