I am not generally a huge fan of collecting “things”. Having a bunch of stuff I don’t need or use just weighs me down. This is one reason that when birthdays and holidays roll around, some of the best gifts are the ones that take you places. Travel-related gift cards are the best gifts for travelers because can be used whenever they want. I avoid anything that could cause stress, so the gift cards on my list all have no expiration date!
Southwest Airlines Gift Card: No baggage fees, highly rated service and they often have great fares. They fly 89 destinations in the US with routes opening this year to Aruba, Montego Bay, Nassau, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City and Punta Cana. You can pick these up in most chain grocery stores or use my Amazon Affiliate link here: Get Southwest Airlines gift card on Amazon.
Bed & Breakfast Gift Card: Partnered with over 4,000 B&Bs in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia and Asia, no blackout dates and no expiration. Through their site I found some excellent B&Bs in Kauai, Napa, New Orleans and Chicago. This website also offers fantastic online guides to cities around the world, as cultivated tips from the B&B Innkeepers. I hands-down promise you that if you enjoy B&Bs, you will find a lovely place to stay no matter your destination.
Amazon Gift Card: This is ideal for travelers because they can choose from millions of products in travel gear, best selling digital cameras, electronics, phone apps, music, kindle books, books and DVDs.

Zappos Gift Card: They are my source for shoes and accessories. Great selection, fast and free shipping both ways, my favorite comfortable travel shoes I get from here. They stock great hats that offer sun protection with UPF rated, great selection of day bags and weekend bags. No expiration.
World Market Gift Card: World travelers usually love colors and cultures and sometimes handicrafts from far away countries. Recipients can redeem online or in stores.
Shutterfly Gift Card:With regular 50% off deals on photo books, documenting and sharing my travels and silly escapades is fun and a great gift idea. I don’t think I know of any travelers who don’t also take pictures and have fun with creative ways to display their travel shots.
Lonely Planet Guide Books: Does this person have a trip in the works? Lonely Planet offers tons of ebooks, hardcopy books and PDF city guides (500 titles covering 195 countries), some of the best guide books in the world. They have great deals too.
Rakuten Global Online Marketplace: This is the largest online store in Japan, selling from over 7000 retailers. What is fantastic about this site is the rare items you’ll find, think shoe styles not available in many countries, gourmet sweet treats from Japan, etc. Their products include clothing and accessories, electronics, toys, beauty products, home and garden, sports and travel gear, and more. Many products offer free shipping internationally and sometimes I find excellent deals.
Aspiga Online Store: This is a company started in 2006 helping to fight poverty through trade. All their products are handmade from communities primarily in Africa, using ethical work policies. Think breezy designer beach wear for women. While they aren’t exactly in the bargain category, check their sales and accessories; some of the beaded purses and beaded sandals are totally fantastic.
